How Conventional financing works

Conventional loans are the most common type of mortgage. They work for primary homes, second homes and investment properties, and you can choose a fixed rate for stability or an adjustable rate for a lower starting payment.

With a down payment of 20% you avoid private mortgage insurance (PMI) altogether. With less, PMI is required but can be removed once you build enough equity.
